The changes in how we shop have been dramatic this year, with online shopping going through the roof, with £3 in every £10 spent being online. The use of contactless transactions has accelerated at a similar rate.
According to this report from Barclays, a third of all retailers have initiated technology upgrades on their websites, with 15% of them creating new roles to deal with the extra work. Interestingly, 32% of retailers surveyed have invested in new Payment methods, which must surely bring into question how these technologies are being secured. We have seen in previous articles how rushing in new forms of payment acceptance also carries some risk, and working with a QSA partner can certainly help to manage that risk to an acceptable level.
For more interesting stats relating to what is happening in the UK retail space, read the full report and if you have any concerns about securing your new technologies, don't hesitate to get in touch with us at 3B Data Security.
